Your first postpartum meal

Ring! Ring! “Hi, can I order your 90 piece sushi party platter please?”

“Babe, can you go pick me up a Big Mac meal with a vanilla shake?”

“I NEED a steak, medium rare! I’ve been craving it for months!”

Sure, maybe you just had a baby and you’re in love and all that, but you’re also STARVING! I have heard all these things and more in the first hour or two after someone gives birth.

Your first postpartum meal is almost as memorable as giving birth to your first baby. The last thing you want is a cheese sandwich from the hospital fridge. Plan accordingly!

Pack lots of delicious snacks, order takeout and get your partner to head down to meet the driver at the front door of the hospital, or if you must, wait until you get home and have someone make you a delicious breakfast of pancakes and syrup and fresh fruit. Don’t stop there, either! Keep up the desire to fuel yourself with yummy, nutritious and filling food in those first few weeks (and forever, really). With all of the focus being on feeding the baby, new parents forget that they too need to eat!
